Government Degree College Baldwara was established in 2014 with the H.P. Government Notification No. EDN-A-Ka (1)/2014 dated Feb 24, 2014 with a view to fulfill the educational needs of rural boys and girls. Initially, this college started functioning in the premises of Government Senior Secondary School Baldwara and was shifted to its own majestic building on August 28, 2020. The College is well-linked with roads and is having a peaceful environment for studies. The college is situated at Kohni about 1Km from Baldwara town, towards north on Ghumarwin - SarkaghatState Highway.
At present the college offers courses in Humanities, languages and Commerce. The subjects being offered for studies are English, Hindi, Economics, History, Political Science, Mathematics, Sociology, Music (Vocal) and Commerce. Hopefully, Science courses, and some other courses of languages and Humanities will also be started from the session 2021-22.
Education is not just a way to accumulate knowledge. It is also a path to acquire wisdom from our observations. Education prepares us for our own life. It motivates us to learn, cultivate and develop the healthy values of life. The education must make us competent enough to cross the obstacles, hardships and hurdles of life. In fact, real education is a journey from converting the human being in to being human. It is that harmonious development of the physical, mental and spiritual powers. Thus the goal of education is not to create scholars. Its goal must be to create virtuous human beings.
The term ‘education’ encompasses more than just to acquire knowledge. It is an all over development of students’ personality. It is to inculcate into young minds a civic sense and social responsibility.
